PURPOSE: To improve initial high speed absorbability, high water absorbability and water retention while holding a shape during water absorption in a body fluid treatment material gelling blood components or the like obtained by arranging a highly water-absorbable sheet between liquid permeable or water collapsible sheets.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a body fluid treatment material comes into contact with a physiological saline soln. containing blood components or other components and absorbs a large amt. of the soln. at a high speed to be gelled. That is, this treatment material is used when a body fluid is gelled to be recovered and subsequently incinerated and discarded in order to prevent the infection trouble due to the body fluid. In this case, the body fluid treatment material is constituted by arranging a highly waterabsorbable sheet between liquid permeable or water collapsible sheets. The highly water-absorbable sheet is formed from a highly water-soluble resin, a filter aid, a fiber and an alkylene oxide polymer and may be formed in a porous sponge shape. By this constitution, initial high speed absorbability, high water absorbability and water retention are improved and a shape can be held during water absorption.
