To provide a small pedometer where the number of steps is not viewed by a third person except for a user while the pedometer is mounted.
The pedometer 100A is provided with: a body movement detection sensor where a main body part 110 is connected with a base part 120 in a freely rotatable manner and which is for detecting body movement; a display part 116 provided to the exposed surface of the main body part 110 for displaying the number of steps detected by the body movement detection sensor; and a microswitch 166a as a positional change detection means for detecting the relative positional change of the main body part 110 with respect to the base part 120. Linked with the on/off operation of the microswitch 166a, switching from displayed to nondisplayed of the number of steps on the display part 116 is operated.
