Title:
BODY SIDEWALL STRUCTURE FOR AUTOMOBILE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3871987
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase flatness of an outer panel and improve external appearance in integrating the outer panel and an inner panel between a front pillar and a rear pillar.
SOLUTION: A body sidewall structure for an automobile is provided with the outer panel 21, the inner panel 22 arranged inside of the outer panel 22 via closed section spaces 25, 27, and a front stiffener and a rear stiffener 26, 28 arranged in the closed section spaces 25, 27. A front pillar and a rear pillar 15, 17 are constructed at positions of the stiffeners 26, 28. A bottom wall 22e of a recess part 24 formed on the inner panel 22 is adhered on an inner surface of the roughly flat outer panel 21 between the front and the rear pillar 15, 17 in a shape of spotting by sealer 29. Consequently, it becomes unnecessary to join the outer panel 21 and the inner panel 22 by welding and flatness of the outer panel 22 is increased and external appearance is improved. Especially, since adhesion by sealer 29 is done in the shape of spotting, distortion of the outer panel 21 due to shrinking of sealer 29 at a time of curing is inhibited and flatness of the outer panel 21 is increased more.
