To provide a body structure of a vehicle, which forms a vehicle body compactly and in light weight without narrowing the foot space for passengers, and achieves at low cost a proper protection of driver/passenger(s) when the vehicle gets into collision.
The body structure of automobile is equipped with: a driver seat 6 installed on the cabin floor 5 in its central part across the vehicle width; and a pair of rear seats 7 and 8 overlapping on the rear part of the driver seat 6 when viewed on the side elevation and arranged as pinching the driver seat 6 from the left and right when viewed on the plan, in which a steering 9 installed ahead of the driver seat 6 is furnished with a first air bag 60 which is inflated and expanded when the vehicle gets into collision for protecting the driver in his/her seat, while second air bags 61 to be inflated and expanded in the event of vehicle collision for protecting the driver in place and passenger(s) in the rear seat, are installed in the front positions of the cabin on the left and right of the first air bag 60.
