Abstract:
To improve vehicle occupant protection performance by controlling a bent shape of a side member in a body structure.SOLUTION: The body structure includes a weak part 1, a patch member 2 and a peeling mechanism 3. The weak part 1 is formed to serve as a notch or a cutoff at a side member 11 of a vehicle 10. The patch member 2 is mounted on the side member 11 to cover the weak part 1, thereby reinforcing the periphery of the weak part 1. The peeling mechanism 3, upon occurrence of small overlap collision receiving an input of a load more outward in the vehicle width direction than the side member 11, peels off the patch member 2 from the weak part 1 using the load.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
