PURPOSE: To reduce vibration and the production of noise, by a method whenin, in a large capacity boiler for a power plant, furnace walls are positioned so that the incident and reflection direction of a pressure wave, produced by a burner, against opposite furnace walls are not in direct opposition to each other.
CONSTITUTION: A boiler equipment consists of a furnace 8, which consists of front and rear furnace walls 1 and 2, left and right furnace walls 7 and 6, and a partition furnace wall 3, and of upper and lower stage burner devices 4 and 5. Partitions 1A and 1B, of the front and rear furnace walls 1 and 2, whereon the burner devices 4 and 5 are located, are positioned so that they are not in parallel with each other in a vertical direction, and a large number of the burner devices are positioned facing and opposite to each other. A pressure wave, generated by the burners located at the wall portion 1A, advances in a horizontal direction as indicated by an arrow mark E, and in the meantime, a reflection wave from the opposite wall portion 2A to the wall portion 1A advances in a direction R. Thus the two waves are not in direct opposition to each other, which results in prevention of the generation of resonance vibration. In the wall portion 2A as well, the two waves advance in the entirely same manner described above. This permits the protection against troubles due to vibration and permits the reduction of noise.
