To provide a boiler capable of being manufactured easily and yet free from particular adjustment, remarkably reducing metal temperature deviation above the peripheral wall of a furnace, and sufficiently preventing the deformation of and damage to the wall of the furnace caused by thermal stress.
In a boiler, in which the peripheral wall of a furnace is a membrane wall provided with a plurality of heat-transfer tubes 2 disposed vertically and in parallel to one another and membrane bars 3 for connecting the heat-transfer tubes and the horizontal cross section of the furnace is square, the above heat-transfer tubes are arranged at horizontal pitches increasing from the central part of width of the furnace toward the corners thereof (Wo< Wi<Wn).
