To surely improve the fatigue strength of a male screw by providing a surface hardening part that has increased surface hardness and that is applied with a compressive residual stress, on the surface of the male screw.
In a bolt having a male screw comprised of a nickel-based super alloy, a surface hardening part that has increased surface hardness and that is applied with a compressive residual stress is provided at least on a surface of the male screw, and the surface hardening part is provided by processing for abutting alumina particles having such a particle size as to pass through a mesh of mesh size #150, to at least the surface of the male screw. Furthermore, a method for manufacturing the bolt having the male screw comprised of the nickel-based super alloy includes the steps of cutting for forming the male screw, and of processing for providing the surface hardening part by abutting alumina particles having such a particle size as to pass through the mesh of mesh size #150 at least on the surface of the male screw in such a manner that surface hardness is increased and the compressive residual stress is applied.
