PURPOSE: To contrive improvement in filling rate of permanent magnet material, and to obtain high magnetic characteristics by a method wherein the permanent magnet material having specific particle size is used.
CONSTITUTION: When the powder of permanent magnet material has the composition of RxT100-x-y-zByMz, substantially it has only the main phase of tetragonal crystal structure, or both of the above-mentioned main phase and an amorphous and/or crystalline poor-R subphase, or it has subphase only, the value obtained by having the volume ratio (subphase/main phase) (v) divided by (11.76-x)/x is 2 or less, and the title magnet is formed by molding the mixture of the powder of magnet material, having the average major axis of 20 to 300μm, and a binder. As a result, the filling rate of the powder of permanent material can be improved, and the high characteristics of the permanent magnet material can also be utilized efficiently.
