Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a book document reader capable of excellently reading one book document from the first page to the last page.
CONSTITUTION: By reciprocating a page turning and reading unit in a state where it is brought into contact with the book document placed to be spread on a document platen, scanning to read the information of the document and operation to turn the page of the document are performed. The document platen is constituted of a pair of document placing tables 102a and 102b on which the right and left pages of the spread book document are respectively independently placed, a pair of fixing plates 101a and 101b fixing the cover of the book document placed on the document placing table on the document placing table, a supporting plate 107 arranged under either document placing table and supporting the document placing table so that it may freely slide in a reading subscanning direction, and a document platen up and down mechanism moving a pair of right and left document placing tables 102a and 102b independently up and down.
