In a printing operation to bring a left page of a portrait format passbook close to a center hold part, spacing a printing head is stopped before a protector hits the center hold part of the passbook and lines are minutely changed. A character of the most right digit of the left page is printed double by one digit from right to left with use of a pin at the right side of a pin arrangement (b).
