To hold books of various sizes, large and small, in opened state by providing two elastic plate-like members having C-shaped end parts, superposing them and combining them slidably.
When an opened page of a book is to be held, right and left slide plates 3 and 4 with a width of the opened state are laid under the book. The right and left ends of the plates 3 and 4 are curved into C-shaped forms and made to have elasticities so as to hold the opened book by pinching the right and left ends of the opened book. By making the plates 3 and 4 slide, any book width can be adjusted. As the C-shaped parts at both ends also have elasticities, they can easily pinch books ranging from thick books to thin books. Thus, when an opened state of a book is held, both hands are free, so that cooking can be done easily in the case of a cooking book, for example. In the case of source materials, writing can be done easily with the opened materials aside.
