Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the book original reader in which a damage to a book original is avoided due to the press contact of a scanning unit onto a book original edge group.
CONSTITUTION: In the start of 1st reading in which a scanning unit 200 is moved from a center home position to an end home position to conduct shading of a book original BO and detection of subscanning size prior to read scanning, the scanning unit 200 is moved in the read scanning direction without rising the original platen 1 up to a highest position. When an original presser roller 281a to retain the face of the original arranged in the read scanning direction of the scanning unit 200 passes the read start end of the book original BO, the original platen 1 is elevated to the highest position and the image reading is started.
