To provide a simple book-rest for lying on the back for surely supporting a book, making it easy to view the book even in a supine position and facilitating page feed as well.

The book-rest is composed of a support plate 2 for supporting the book 1 and a stand 4 for holding the support plate in the visual field 30 of a reader 3 lying on the back. The stand is provided with a vertically maintained column 41, at least one cross arm 42 extended from the column and a hanging member 43 disposed between the cross arm and the support plate, and the column is provided with an adjusting mechanism 49 for making the horizontal movement and vertical movement of the cross arm possible. The support plate is constituted of a plurality of parallel small holes and a plurality of string-like book fixing tools on which hooks to be locked to the holes are mounted and which are arranged orthogonally to the holes and arranged in parallel at an interval. The string-like book fixing tool is constituted of an elastic member.
