To provide a small-sized and simple book surface cleaning device, with which the quality of a book after its beautification and regeneration is kept stably and which has an improved working efficiency.
This book surface cleaning device is equipped with a lower board 3b standing upright on a base and an upper board 3a floatingly supported through a spring opposite to the lower board and a plurality of rollers 7, 8 and 9 horizontally and rotatably supported by these boards 3a and 3b and endless cleaning belts 10. Among the rollers pairs of cleaning belts 10 are horizontally and opposedly arranged and, in addition, stoppers 29, each of which advances and retreats in and from each gap so as to open and close the gaps are provided. By rotating driving rollers 7, the cleaning belts 10 are fed towards the stoppers 29. Each gap between the opposing cleaning belts 10 is set to be slightly narrower than the thickness of the book 5 and, at the same time, the book 5 passing through the gap is stopped for the predetermined period of time by the stopper 29, resulting in cleaning the surfaces of the book 5 with the cleaning belts 10.
