Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a diarylphosphinopyridine useful for industry, etc., in a high yield without requiring a strictly purifying operation by allowing a triarylphosphine to react with an alkali metal and allowing the resultant alkali diarylphosphide to react with a pyridyl halide.
CONSTITUTION: A triarylphosphine is allowed to react with about 2 equiv. alkali metal such as lithium at -20 to +70°C in an aprotic solvent such as ether to produce an alkali diarylphosphide and an alkali aryl. The alkali aryl is selectively removed and the alkali diarylphosphide is allowed to react with about 1 equiv. properly substd. pyridyl halide such as 2-pyridyl halide based on 1 halogen group and the resultant diarylphosphinopyridine is separated to obtain the objective compd.
