To provide a bookbinding device wherein finishing quality is superior and cut paper pieces can be easily processed when an arranged sheet bundle is bound by an adhesive and a peripheral edge thereof is cut to be lined up.
The bookbinding device has a cutting amount setting means which sets a cut region in a top part or a ground part based on size information and bundle thickness information of a sheet bundle to be subjected to a bookbinding finishing, and applies no adhesive or reduces an applying amount thereof in the cut region calculated with the means when applying the adhesive on a back part of the sheet bundle with an adhesive applying means. Thereby, since the cut region is not applied with the adhesive, there is no possibility of damaging a cutting blade and occurring of wrinkle or unevenness in a cut part when cutting the top part or the ground part. The paper pieces can be reused as a recycled paper because of containing no block of the adhesive or a minute amount thereof.
