This book stand comprises an almost rectangular front view shape base 1, a support plate 3 whose lower end is detachably attached in an almost slope engaging groove 2 grooved on the upper face of the base 1, a storage box 4 formed in the base 1, and a mirror 5 set on the back face side of the support plate 3. A pressing part 9 to hold the lower end of a book 21 and a holding part 13 to hold the upper end of the book 21 are formed in the base 1 to support the book 21 for reading by the front and back faces of the support plate 3.
