In this bound matter stacking and lifting device, the bound matter H discharged from a bookmaking machine is put on a conveyor 1 and conveyed to the lifting loading rack 2, and the loading rack 2 is lowered and the bound matter is stacked. The loading rack 2 is secured to a lifting and moving chain 3. The chain 3 is connected to a chain drive motor 4 through a one-way clutch 7 for transmitting a torque in the direction that the loading rack 2 is raised. Since the torque is not applied to the loading rack 2 in the lowering direction, the loading rack can be easily raised and, even if something is held between the loading rack 2 and a floor, it merely receives the weight of the loading rack 2.
