A refractory inorganic staple fiber is blended with an organic fiber, the blended yarn is twisted with a core wire to form a single yarn, one or multiple single yarns are twisted with a core yarn to form a doubled and twisted yarn, a plurality of the doubled and twisted yarns are twisted to form a yarn rope, and an inner core produced by using the yarn rope is covered with a covering material composed of a refractory inorganic continuous filament to obtain the braided rope for sealing the coke oven opening and having density of ≥650 kg/m3. The sealing method comprises combining the braided rope with refractory mortar, and sealing a gap formed between constructional elements of the coke oven opening with the combined material.
