PURPOSE: To provide a medicine for treating and preventing various diseases and their aftereffects in a cerebral field, containing a calmodulin-inhibiting medicine as the active ingredient.

CONSTITUTION: A medicine for preventing or treating various diseases caused by the excessive activation of calmodulin, such as cerebrovascular diseases (e.g. cerebral infarction or transient ischemic attack), cerebral degenerative diseases (e.g. Alzheimer's disease or Perkinson disease), and other cerebral diseases (e.g. drug intoxation or traumatic cerebral diseases), and diseases based thereon (e.g. spontaneous depression or memory diseases), containing a calmodulin-inhibiting medicine, e.g. a compound for inhibiting the combination of the calmodulin with cytoskeleton protein or a compound for inhibiting the combination of the cytoskeleton protein, as the active ingredient. The calmodulin-inhibiting medicine includes 3-[2-[4-(3-chloro-2-methylphenyl)-1- piperazinyl]ethyl]-5,6-dimethoxy-1-(3,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-1H-indazole.
