Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fuel consumption per travel distance by prohibiting wave-like driving operation without giving a feel of discomfort to a driver.SOLUTION: A brake control device includes an automatic transmission 15 capable of executing shift-down along with the operation of an auxiliary brake 13, and also includes detecting means 27a for detecting that the operating frequency of an accelerator pedal 11 exceeds predetermined conditions, and operating strength changing control means 27 for reducing the operating strength of the auxiliary brake 13 after the detection. When the accelerator pedal 11 is repeatedly operated beyond a predetermined amplitude and beyond a predetermined frequency within a predetermined time, the brake control device determines that the operating frequency of the accelerator pedal 11 exceeds the predetermined conditions. It further includes a distance sensor 22 for measuring an inter-vehicle distance from a frontward vehicle, and inter-vehicle distance determining means 27b for comparing the inter-vehicle distance detected by the distance sensor 22 with a threshold value. It prohibits a reduction in the operating strength of the auxiliary brake 13 when the inter-vehicle distance is not greater than the threshold value.
