Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a brake control device for controlling a plurality of electric brake devices to make effective use of the normal electric brake devices while keeping the stability of vehicle control good when there is an abnormality in at least one of the electric brake devices.
SOLUTION: When an abnormality in the electric brake device for the left front wheel is detected, determination is made based on the running state of the vehicle as to whether actuation of the electric brake device for the right rear wheel is inhibited or permitted. When the running state is not on the stable side of a set condition, actuation of the electric brake device for the right rear wheel is inhibited; when the running state is on the stable side of the set condition, actuation is permitted because the vehicle is determined to be in such a state that the stability of control can be kept almost good even if the difference between right and left braking forces is increased. Even if there are abnormal electric brake devices, the normal electric brake devices can be used effectively and a decrease in the braking forces of the entire vehicle can be avoided.
