To provide a brake controller for an elevator capable of dispensing with a brake opening and closing detection switch or a brake position detector and improving its reliability.
This brake controller for the elevator is provided with a driving control device 13 for outputting brake opening and closing commands for opening and closing brake in accordance with start and stop of the elevator, a current command generator 15 for outputting a current command value of a brake coil 10 in accordance with the brake opening and closing command, a current detector 14 for detecting an actual current value flowing in the brake coil 10, a current control device 9 for controlling current carrying in the brake coil 10 to make actual current value agree with the current command value, and a brake opening and closing detector 12 for comparing a differential value of the actual current value from outputting of the brake opening and closing command to completion of opening and closing of brake with a previously set threshold value to infer an opening and closing condition of brake and output the result of inference to the driving control device 13 to control operation of the elevator.
