To provide a brake device for a vehicle for stopping the vehicle immediately when the vehicle rums out of control by an abnormality in a rope for pulling the vehicle during the traveling in a cable car for transporting passengers along a slope.
A brake unit 20 having brake levers 22 and 22 for holding a rail 3 is mounted on a track 4, and a parallel link mechanism is constituted in the vertical direction by a flange 4g of the track 4, an axle frame 8, two connection rods 12 and 12, and a brake frame 14 of the brake unit 20. A pivotably supporting point for pivotably attaching the brake frame 14 to the axle frame 8 is located on the same axis of an axle 7 of a wheel 6 to support the brake unit 20 in a suspending manner. Guide rollers 39, 39, etc., which are abutted on both side surfaces of the rail 3 and rolled are pivotably attached to the brake unit 20. As excessive speed detector 52 connected to the wheel 6 by gears 50 and 51 is fitted to the axle frame 8.
