PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake device that can inhibit deterioration in control accuracy due to variation in valve characteristic of a normally open-type solenoid valve, and to provide a method for controlling a brake.SOLUTION: The method for controlling a brake incudes: calculating a current value required for closing a valve of the solenoid valve 3 based on inertial rotation characteristic of a motor M for rotatably driving a pump P; and controlling an open/close state of the solenoid valve 3 based on the calculated current value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
