To provide a small and inexpensive brake device for a vehicle capable of obtaining smooth pedal feeling having no response delay and easily changing reaction force characteristic for every type of vehicle.
The brake device for the vehicle is equipped with a master cylinder 10 generating hydraulic pressure corresponding to a depressed state of a brake pedal 11, and a differential pressure control valve 43 having two ports 43a, 43b which is a solenoid valve capable of controlling the differential pressure between both ports 43a, 43b, and has the port 43a connected to an output port 10a of the master cylinder 10. An ECU 70 controls to energize the differential pressure control valve 43 so as to generate a control differential pressure corresponding to a pedal operation state of the brake pedal 11 between both ports 43a, 43b.
