Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a structure of a brake device capable of preventing scattering of abrasion powder to the circumference.SOLUTION: A MR fluid 7 is charged into a disc accommodation space 18 in which rotation-side discs 4 and stationary-side discs 5 are alternately disposed. In braking, electric current is applied to an electromagnetic coil 19 configuring an application device 8, so that a magnetic circuit is formed on a casing 2 functioned as a yoke, and magnetic field is applied to the MR fluid 7. Thus apparent viscosity of the MR fluid 7 is changed, and rotational resistance is applied to the rotation-side discs 4. When compensation of braking force is necessary, a pressing mechanism 6 is driven to bring the rotation-side discs 4 and the stationary-side discs 5 directly into contact with each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
