Abstract:

To provide a brake mechanism for a wire reel in a reinforcing bar binding device to brake the rotation of the wire reel almost directly after the termination of wire feeding.

A reinforcing bar binding device feeds a binding wire forward to a binding device main body from a wire reel installed on the back of the binding device main body so that it can rotate freely to wind around crossed reinforcing bars to bind together. In the device, a motor 13 for brake is coupled to a shaft of the wire reel, a closed circuit which connects a capacitor C to the motor 13 in series is provided, a switch sw to change the polarity of the capacitor C and the motor 13 is prepared in the closed circuit, and at the time of wire feeding, the motor 13 is connected to the closed circuit with a capacitor C connected in series. When the wire feeding is finished, the polarity of the motor 13 is changed by the switch sw, the reverse voltage is applied to the motor 3 by the power stored in the capacitor C during wire feeding, to stop the rotation of the wire reel suddenly.
