To provide a brake mechanism of a wire reel in a reinforcing bar binding machine which brakes the rotation of the wire reel almost simultaneously with the finish of wire feeding.
In the reinforcing bar binding machine which twists and binds a binding wire from the wire reel 2 with a twisting hook after feeding the wire in front of the binding machine main body and winding the wire around crossed reinforcing bars, a brake shaft 14 is pierced through a shaft hole 13 of a brake driving gear 12 which is operationally connected to a twisting motor, a screw groove 15 is formed in a periphery of the brake shaft 14, a part of a steel ball 17 arranged in a part of a recessed part in an inner surface of the shaft hole 13 is protruded from the inner surface and engaged with the screw groove 15 of the brake shaft 14, and the brake driving gear 12 is rotated by the twisting motor which is operated after finishing wire feeding. Whereby, the brake shaft 14 is moved in the axial direction, and the tip end is engaged with the wire reel 2 to brake the wire reel.
