Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a device for softly catching or braking a free fall object.

CONSTITUTION: A falling object 7 is caught in a downwardly inclined first region 4' in a conveyer belt 4 which is endlessly rotated and driven. The conveyer belt is driven at substantially the same velocity as the terminal fall velocity of the object, and accordingly, at the beginning, the object is transferred with the belt, permitted to pass an ascending region 4''', transferred to a contiguous braking path 6, and softly braked there. The braking path consists of a roller path, a chute or the like.
