To provide a brake operation mechanism attached on a long handle extending backward whereby a sufficient stroke can be given to a brake operation wire.
The handle 2 extends backward a handcart. A gear support part 8 is provided on a lower side of an intermediate position of the handle 2. A first gear 9 and a second gear 10 meshed to each other are attached on the gear support part 8. A rear brake lever 11 extends backward from the gear support part 8. A front end of the rear brake lever 11 is interlockingly attached to the first gear 9. A wire operation lever 14 has a lower end fixed on the second gear 10 and extends upward. An inner end 16 of the brake operation wire 15 is attached on an upper end of the wire operation lever 14. When a rear end 13 of the rear brake lever 11 is lifted, the brake operation wire 15 is pulled backward through turning of the first and the second gears 9 and 10 and the wire operation lever 14.
