Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain satisfactory performance in a wide temperature area by deforming a frictional member from a projected form to a recessed form by its temperature variation and vise versa, and causing deformation in a follow-up manner from a projected form to a recessed form by temperature variation of a base member or vise versa.

CONSTITUTION: A disc rotor 12 is pressurized by means of a projection of a center frictional member 24A in a normal temperature area not exceeding 200°C. The frictional member 24A includes much lubricant and binder, and less magnesium oxide, showing a small frictional coefficient and satisfactory abrasion resistance. When the brake is operated frequently and the temperature of the disc rotor 12 is 350°C or more, a back plate 22 is deformed from a projected to a recessed form due to difference of a thermal coefficients of steel plates 22A and 22B composing the back plate 22. The frictional member 24 is also recessed, while the disc rotor 12 is pressurized by means of upper and lower edge frictional members 24B. The frictional member 24B includes less lubricant and binder, and much metal fiber and magnesium oxide, showing a large frictional coefficient and feding resistance. Satisfacotry performance is obtained in a wide temperature area.
