PURPOSE: To obtain a less expensive brake roll and a milling roller which uses the brake roll when the brake roll, which is shorter than a normal roll, is used in a relatively compact milling plant.

CONSTITUTION: In a brake roll for a milling roller in which a roll shaft 104 is inserted into a hollow metal roll, and stripe grooves are formed over the entire peripheral surface of the metal roll, a peripheral groove 154 is installed in the central part of the brake roll in the axial direction, and different stripe grooves 152, 153 are formed on both sides of the peripheral groove 154.
