Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make a brake high in a friction coefficient, quick in a response speed, and excellent in abrasion resistance, by using carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material wherein a surface interval and accumulated strength, by the X-ray diffraction beam of graphite at the time of X-ray diffraction in a sliding surface, is made in a specific range respectively.
CONSTITUTION: As a carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material for constituting a disk and a pad, specific material, wherein the graphitization degree and graphite component quantity of a graphite component to be oriented to a sliding surface are different respectively, are combined. As the index for the graphitization degree, a surface interval d002 is used which is determined from the diffraction angle of the (002) diffraction beam of graphite. As the index for the graphite component quantity, relative strength I/Ic is used which is obtained by normalizing the integrated strength I of the (002) diffraction beam by the (113) diffraction beam integrated strength Ic of standard α-Al2O3. This carbon brake has the combination of a carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material, having a surface interval d002 of 3.37-3.43&angst and a relative strength I/Ic of 60-90, as a disk; and that, having a surface interval d002 of 3.42-3.44&angst and a relative strength I/Ic of 45-75, as a pad.
