To provide a brake system which is miniaturized.
When a drive member 43 of the brake system is inoperative, an operation control member 41 is held in an inoperative position. In this state, rotation stop portions 41c, 41d of the operation control member 41 are held in positions opposed to the flat surfaces 47c, 47d of an energy-absorbing-member support member 47, and the energy-absorbing-member support member 47 is braked by the operation control member 41, whereby the rotation is stopped. When the drive member 43 is activated, the operation control member 41 is moved downward, so that a rotation allowable portion 74e of the operation control member 41 is located on a cylindrical part 47b of the energy-absorbing-member support member 47. Then, the brake applied to the energy-absorbing-member support member 47 is released to allow the rotation of the energy-absorbing-member support member 47.
