To provide a brake system capable of instantaneously and accurately positioning and stopping a rotating body.
The brake system 1 is provided with a fixed base 3, a rotating table 2 rotatably provided on the fixed base 3, and a braking device 10 provided between the fixed base 3 and the rotating table 2. The braking device 10 has a brake ring 14 in a fixed base 3 side, and a brake disc 11 arranged on an inner side of the brake ring 14 and on a rotating table 2 side. A first salient pole 15 is provided on an inner circumferential face of the brake ring 14, and a second salient pole 12 is provided on an outer circumferential face of the brake disc 11 in correspondence to the first salient pole 15. When stopping the rotating table 2, a powerful magnetic path is formed between the first salient pole and the second salient pole by an electromagnetic coil 25, and the rotating table 2 is instantaneously stopped.
