Title:
BRAKE TEMPERATURE MEASURING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05215161
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To favorably and stably measure a brake temperature by providing a hole facing the outer peripheral surface of a rotor on the back surface of the caliper of a disc brake and providing, in this hole a temperature sensor to detect a temperature of air passing through the ventilation hole of the rotor.

CONSTITUTION: An inspection hole 4b is formed at a position facing the outer peripheral surface of a rotor roughly in the center of the back surface of the caliper 4 of a disc brake, and a temperature sensor 8 consisting of a thermocouple and the like is installed with its head end facing this inspection hole 4b on the caliper 4 through a support member. Consequently, it is possible to measure the temperature of air blowing off outward from the ventilation hole 3c of the rotor 3, and the temperature of the rotor 3 is estimated from the result of measurement. In the case when this measured temperature rises higher than a set temperature and the car speed becomes higher than the specified car speed, cooling water is injected in form of mist toward the outer peripheral edge of an edge surface opposite to the rotor 3 from a pair of nozzles, and it is used to control a brake cooling device which forcibly cools the rotor 3 by heat of vaporization generated at the time when the cooling water is evaporated.
