Abstract:
To provide a brake that is capable of securing the brake force for decelerating or stopping the rotation axis while restricting the radial size of the rotating axis from increasing and that gives resistance to rotation of the rotation axis using functional fluid whose viscosity changes according to the strength of the magnetic field.SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of tooth comprises: a teeth body that extends from the stator body in the radial direction toward the rotor and around which a corresponding stator coil is wound among a plurality of stator coils; and teeth tip having a facing surface that is radially opposed to the outer circumferential surface of the rotor via a functional fluid at a position radially inward of the stator coil. The tooth tip includes a part that protrudes outward from the teeth body when viewed from the radial direction and overlaps at least a part of the stator coil. The rotor outer peripheral surface has a magnetic flux passage region that overlaps with the opposing surface when viewed from the radial direction, and the magnetic flux passes through each of the opposing surface and the magnetic flux passage region.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
