To provide a braking control method of an electric vehicle effectively eliminating sudden reduction of a regenerative braking amount and reduction of a braking force caused by delay of a hydraulic response of a hydraulic braking device when a motor or a battery which cannot carry out regenerative braking by the motor is overheated or when a transmission stage is shifted to Nth stage.
The braking control method of the electric vehicle includes the steps of: detecting an Nth stage operation of a gear shift lever in a state where the regenerative braking is performed; linearly reducing the regenerative braking amount of the motor from a time point of detecting the Nth stage operation of the gear shift lever and at the same time increasing the hydraulic braking amount of the hydraulic braking device for compensating the braking amount; and setting the Nth stage shifting of a transmission to be performed when a set time has lapsed after detection of the Nth stage operation.
