The braking device includes: a connecting member 55 capable of forming a shirt circuit including the armature of a rotary electric machine; a biasing member 61 that biases the connecting member 55 and maintains connection between the connecting member 55 and the armature; a separating mechanism L2 for separating the connecting member 55 against biasing force from the biasing member 61; and a control unit 60 controlling the separating operation of the separating mechanism L2.
