To provide a braking device for a rotating machine employing only one laminated piezoelectric actuator.
The braking device 1 for the rotating machine comprises a brake fixing section 2 and a main rotating section 3 faced to this and connected to the rotating machine. The braking device 1 has a bearing 4 that supports the main rotating section 3 and is disposed movably in a rotation axis direction, a spring member 6 for pressing the main rotating section 3 from the brake fixing section 2 to a brake surface 2a of the brake fixing section 2 via the bearing 4, the laminated piezoelectric actuator 7 mounted in the main rotating section 3 or the brake fixing section 2, and a pivot sphere 8 inserted between an end of the actuator 7 and the brake fixing section 2 or the main rotating section 3. During non-operation of the actuator 7, the braking device 1 actuates or opens the brake. On the contrary, during an operation of the actuator, the braking device 1 opens or actuates the brake.
