To perform suitable vehicle braking even when a vehicle is moved backward by enlarging the pressure intensifying gradient of liquid pressure in a wheel cylinder of a rear wheel when the vehicle is moved backward more than when the vehicle is moved forward.
This braking force control device 1 includes a wheel speed sensor 11, a G sensor 12 and a backward moement detecting sensor 13, and a brake actuator 20 is operated in response to a control signal of an ECU 10. It is detected whether the vehicle runs along a steep slope or not, or whether the vehicle moves backward on a steep slope, and according to these detection results, ABS control processing is conducted when a driver operates a brake. In the rear wheel cylinder, the control is conducted to enlarge the pressure intensifying gradient of liquid pressure at the time of moving backward on the steep slope more than the pressure intensifying gradient when it is not in the steep slope moving backward state. Thus, at the time of moving backward on the steep slope when load of the vehicle is largely applied to the rear wheel, the braking force for the rear wheel can be increased so as to improve braking force of the vehicle.
