Abstract:
To provide a brake mechanism which is small in power consumption, and advantageous to the elongation of an operation time of a mounted apparatus, and size reduction.SOLUTION: A brake mechanism 1 for driving at least a part of a drive body in a magnetic fluid having magnetism is constituted of: a housing 13 for accommodating the magnetic fluid; a first low-coercive force magnet 20a and a second low-coercive force magnet 20b which are arranged outside the housing 13; a magnetic field generation part 11 for applying magnetic fields to the first low-coercive force magnet 20a and the second low-coercive force magnet 20b; and a magnetic field control part 50 for alternately supplying a pulse-shaped positive pulse current flowing in a first direction, and a pulse-shaped negative pulse current flowing in a direction opposite to the first direction to the magnetic field generation part 11, and changing at least a part of the viscosity of the magnetic fluids.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
