Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branch pipe formed by a steel plate of thin thickness, compact in size, having light weight and less number of components and showing a superior productivity, and its process of manufacture.SOLUTION: A branch pipe 1 includes a cylindrical main pipe 10 roll-formed from a thin plate and formed with an open hole 12 at its peripheral surface, a cylindrical raised-up part 13 bent and formed from a circumferential edge of the open hole 12 and raised up toward an outside of the main pipe 10, and a cylindrical branch pipe 11 roll-formed from the thin plate and having one end part 11a fitted to the raised part 13 and fixed. With this arrangement, the branch pipe 1 does not require any box body for connecting the main pipe 10 with the branch pipe 11, shows a small shape, light weight, less number of components and superior in productivity. In addition, the manufacturing process of the present invention comprises a punching step S11 in which the open hole 12 is formed at a peripheral surface of the main pipe 10, and a burring step S13 in which the raised part 13 is bent and formed at the peripheral edge part of the open hole 12 under application of an elastic compression body 45. With this arrangement as above, the high quality branch pipe 1 can be efficiently manufactured.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
