PURPOSE: To provide a brazing filler metal having high shearing strength and excellent corrosion resistance by forming the brazing filler metal essentially consisting of Cu contg. Mn, Ni and Ag at a specific ratio each.

CONSTITUTION: The components of the brazing filler metal are essentially composed of the Cu contg. by weight, 10W25% Mn, 0.5W15% Ni and 0.3W5% Ag. This brazing filler metal does not contain elements of high vapor pressure (Zn, Cd, etc.) and permits the brazing operation at about ≤1,000°C; therefore, the mechanical properties of base metals are less spoiled. The brazing filler metal has high corrosion resistance, exhibits good wettability with the base metals and can be plastically worked to a required shape.
