Title:
BREAKWATER STRUCTURE FOR QUAYWALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6140912
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To lower the reflecting rate of waves by reducing the energy of waves by a method in which speel plate cells are connected with arcs on the ground side, and a row of piles are driven in such a way as to form slit-shaped apertures between the steel plate cells for constructing a water-retarding basin.

CONSTITUTION: Steel plate cells 1 are set at a given interval and connected with a ground side arc 2 as a coupler. A great number of piles 3 are driven to form a slit-shaped aperture W in the vertical direction between the sea-side tip portions of the cells 1 in such a way as to form a water-retarding basin 3 surrounded by the arc 2, the cells 1, and the piles 3. The reflecting rate of waves can thus be lowered by biasing the phases of reflecting waves, and waves-breaking function can be obtained simply by setting the pile row in front of the quaywall.
