To provide a Brillouin scattering microscope having high luminous efficiency of Brillouin scattering light from a sample.
A Brillouin scattering microscope includes: a light emitting device 12 emitting a laser beam; a scanning optical system 21 irradiating a sample S with the laser beam emitted from the light emitting device 12 while scanning the laser beam; and a detection optical system 31 detecting light generated from the sample S via a confocal diaphram. A SSB modulator 13 which introduces a part of the laser beam emitted from the light emitting device 12 and generates a wavelength shift laser beam is provided between the light emitting device 12 and the scanning optical system 21. The wavelength shift laser beam generated from the SSB modulator 13 is superimposed on the laser beam emitted from the light emitting device 12; the superimposed laser beam is scanned by the scanning optical system 21 while the sample S is irradiated with the superimposed laser beam; and induced Brillouin scattering light generated from the sample S is detected in the detection optical system 31 and the induced Brillouin scattering light is observed.
