The bristle material for a cosmetic brush includes bristles made of synthetic resin monofilaments and has a tapered part formed at least at one end thereof. At least the surface of the tapered part has recessed portions having a maximum length of the opening of 2 μm or more and 30 μm or less at a rate of 0.1 to 10 per 100 square μm.
