To provide a broadcast receiver capable of providing appropriate audio data as audio guidance to a user without acquiring audio data for audio guidance from a broadcast signal.

The broadcast receiver includes an information character string extractor 9 which extracts a character string from a signal of a broadcast program, and an audio generator 10 which creates audio data based on the character string extracted by the information character string extractor 9. Also, the broadcast receiver can reproduce the audio data generated by the audio generator 10 and output the audio data as audio guidance.
